Project Description
The Sydney Metro Northwest project is a large rail infrastructure project linking Sydney’s Northwest region to the CBD via Chatswood. The project involves both greenfield and brownfield aspects including 8 new stations, associated tunnels, bridges, and tracks, as well as upgrades to existing sections of rail between Chatswood and Epping. Sydney Metro will be the first fully-automated rail system in Australia.
We led the design, development, and commissioning of the power control system (PCS).
With the right and proper engineering management, we were able to deliver the project. One of the project challenges was to redesign some significant aspects of PCS system. There is no Design Manager to lead and handle the design challenges, so we took over the design manager role and demonstrated specialist expertise, correcting several major pre-existing technical issues.
